Call For Proposals:
The Canadian Society for the Study of Religion invites proposals for our 2021 annual meeting which will run from Saturday, May 29 to Wednesday, June 2, 2021 virtually. The deadline for proposals is March 1, 2021.
Theme:
The theme of this year’s annual meeting is “Why We Shouldn’t Return to “Normal:” Working Towards Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization.” The pandemic upended academia overnight. The abrupt transition to remote learning changed the ways we teach, do research, and learn. These changes have impacted students’ and faculty’s wellness. COVID 19 has also exposed existing societal inequalities and created new ones – lack of access to technology, stable and safe housing, and income and food security – not only in the post-secondary community. The pandemic has further highlighted neo-liberalism’s impact (e.g., on post-secondary education) and exacerbated existing injustices (e.g., ableism, classism, cissexism, colonialism, misogyny, and racism) in Canada and globally.
