Beginning in 2026, the Corporation is pleased to announce the establishment of a new CCSR Doctoral Fellowship Program in the amount of $10,000 to support one successful PhD candidate. Our goal is to promote and mentor a doctoral student at the dissertation stage.
The scholarships are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and students on a study permit studying in Canada. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be:
- a member of one of the constituent societies of the CCSR;
- enrolled in a doctoral program and studying an aspect of religious studies or theology;
- have successfully completed their comprehensive or major/minor field examinations;
- have a thesis proposal that has been approved by their department or doctoral committee.
Prior to the conclusion of the 2027 calendar year, the CCSR Doctoral Fellow will give an online research talk to be facilitated and publicized by the Corporation. We also hope that, within six months, and in conjunction with the editors of Studies in Religion, this talk will then be prepared for publication consideration with the journal.
The deadline for applications for the 2027 competition year is Friday, December 4th, 2026. Send to:
