Advancing Studies in Religion
A book series sponsored by the Canadian Corporation for Studies in Religion, published by McGill-Queen’s University Press.
Series editor: Christine Mitchell, St. Andrew’s College, University of Saskatchewan
Series description: Advancing Studies in Religion catalyzes and provokes original research in the study of religion with a critical edge. The series advances the study of religion in method and theory, textual interpretation, theological studies and the understanding of lived religious experience. Rooted in the long and diverse traditions of the study of religion in Canada, the series demonstrates awareness of the complex genealogy of religion as a category and a discipline. ASR welcomes submissions from authors researching religion in varied contexts and with diverse methodologies.
The CCSR has moved its English-language book publishing programme to McGill-Queen’s University Press. Members of the CCSR’s constituent societies—Canadian Society of Biblical Studies, Canadian Society for the Study of Religion, Canadian Society of Patristic Studies, Canadian Theological Society, Société canadienne de théologie, Société quebecoise pour l’étude de la religion—are invited to submit English-language proposals for inclusion in the series ASR. A French-language series is also being launched at Les Presses de l’Université de Montréal.
The MQUP book proposal guidelines can be found at: http://www.mqup.ca/submitting-a-proposal-pages-164.php. All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed and subject to the approval of the publications review committee of MQUP.
This series publishes original monographs in particular religious traditions; on themes or topics that intersect a number of traditions; and that incorporate any number of theoretical and/or methodological approaches. Theoretical works dealing with the category “religion” (and related categories) are also encouraged.
Studies in Religion / Sciences Religieuses is a peer-reviewed, bilingual academic quarterly, serving scholars who work in a wide range of sub-fields in religious studies and theological studies. It publishes scholarly articles of interest to specialists, but written so as to be intelligible to other scholars who wish to keep informed of current scholarship. It also features articles that focus, in a timely and critically reflective manner, on intellectual, professional and institutional issues in the scholarly study of religion, as well as notices that inform scholars of activities and developments in religious studies and theological studies across Canada and throughout the world.
Studies in Christianity and Judaism
This series publishes monographs and thematic collective works on Christianity and Judaism in the last two centuries before and the first six centuries of the common era, with a special interest in studies of their relationship or the cultural and social context within which they developed.
